What to Expect at Our Monthly Grief Support Programs

Your Questions, Answered.

Grief has no timeline, no rulebook, and no “right way” to move through it. At Park Memorial, our monthly grief-support programs — Art for the Grieving Heart and Men’s Grief Support* — were created to offer a safe, welcoming space for anyone navigating loss.

Whether it’s been weeks, months, or years, we know that taking that first step toward connection can feel intimidating. You may not know what to expect — and that’s okay. To help ease those first-time nerves, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from our guests.

*This is an event series for men only

Do I need to bring anything or prepare in advance?

No workbook, no supplies, and no homework are needed.

There’s no curriculum — just a compassionate space to show up exactly as you are. Some guests join to listen quietly; others to share or create. Every way of showing up is the right way.

Do I need to attend every month?

Not at all.

You are welcome to come as often or as little as feels right for you. Each session stands beautifully on its own — and each time you return, you’ll find familiar faces ready to welcome you back.

What can I expect?

For many people, walking through the door that first time is the hardest part.

But over and over again, we hear the same thing: “I’m so glad I came.”

Art for the Grieving Heart combines two gentle elements — a creative project with its roots in grief, and a facilitated, informal grief discussion that allows space for reflection and connection.

Men’s Grief Support offers a safe, informal space for men to share (or simply listen) among peers, led by two facilitators: one specializing in traumatic / child loss, and one in general grief and healing.

While both programs have structure, there is never any expectation to speak or participate. Guests are free to simply be present, feel their grief, and engage in whatever way feels right that day.

Do I need to be a Park Memorial client to attend?

No — our grief-support programs are open to everyone in the community.

Loss touches every life, and these gatherings are here for anyone who needs a place to process, create, or connect.

You don’t have to walk this road alone.

Whether you come once, occasionally, or every month, our doors — and our hearts — are open.

No prep. No pressure. Just presence.

August 30th was marked as National Grief Awareness Day, and while we missed the official calendar date, we reflect on this truth: grief doesn’t live on a calendar. It doesn’t circle one day in August or only come up during anniversaries and holidays.

Last night, under the golden light of the soft evening sun, we gathered for the first in our summer series of Grief Walks—gentle steps taken in the company of others, held by nature, memory, and quiet connection.

Last night marked the final gathering of our Men’s Grief Support program for the season*— and what a meaningful close it was. Over the past several months, this group has grown not only in numbers, but in connection, trust, and true community. To celebrate that growth, we decided to do something special: we hosted a di

My Dearest Daughter, as I write this letter, I can already feel the weight of my absence pressing upon you. There is so much I wish I could have told you, so many moments I wish I could have shared with you. But now, as you face the daunting task of being my Executor, I realize how much I have failed to prepare you for what lies ahead.

Being named the executor for a loved one is both an honour and a significant responsibility. As you step into this role, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed by the myriad of tasks and decisions that lie ahead. While the process can be complex and time-consuming, it is essential to approach it with warmth, empathy, and unwavering professionalism.
