You are not alone.

The death of a loved one is one of life's most painful events. People's reactions to death remain one of society's least understood and most off-limits topics for discussion. Oftentimes, grievers are left alone to deal with their pain in loneliness in isolation. It might help to know that you are not alone during this difficult time; Park Memorial has several options for those looking for grief support.

First, visit the aftercare page of our website to see if any of our grief support programs or upcoming grief support events are of interest to you. Also, look through our blog for stories and articles about grief. Talking to a professional is also of huge value in the healing process. Visit our community supports page for a list of professionals and organizations serving the grief community.

Though we develop awareness in our adult lives that our parents will likely predecease us, the death of our parent(s) is something that we can never prepare for. No matter their age, their health, nor their lifestyle that may affect their life span, the loss of a parent forces us to grieve the loss of a relationship that was the first we knew.

How do you tell the story of a life in a few short lines? Whether the story is about a life lived only in utero, or an earthly life lived for 89 years, how do you honour that life in an obituary? Much more than just an announcement of death and a place to share the date, time, and location of the funeral service, if there is one being held, an obituary pays tribute to the life of the person who has died.
