EVENT ATTENDEE TESTIMONIALS

"A moment of peace to revive in your own comfort with those around you who feel the pain for different reasons but still there. The event helps to unlock emotions you may hide day in and day out."

If the positive side of social media has taught us anything, it’s that something pretty special happens when people connect through shared experiences. Whether they connect through a passion for Disney vacations, are avid gardeners, or – yes – even connect because of shared loss and grief – there is power in that shared connection.

Christmas brings complicated feelings when one is grieving the loss of a loved one. While the absence of that person is palpable in the season’s celebrations, there are several meaningful ways to honour their memory during the holidays. Traditions are a big part of the holidays for most families.

During this unprecedentedly difficult time for humanity in general and funeral service in particular, good self-care could not be more important. I know you’re busy, and I know you’re probably stressed. Which coping strategies are you using? In your precious spare moments, you might distract yourself with technology and entertainment. You may numb yourself with alcohol and drugs.

When a loved one dies, there are many decisions to be made, ranging from their final disposition (burial or cremation), to location, officiant, obituary, eulogy, song choices, florals, and many more. It is likened to planning a wedding, as it has as many decisions and moving parts as a wedding does, but unlike a wedding, it is often planned and held in under one week’s time.

Society holds such fear and ‘taboo’ around talking about death and dying. Park Memorial is committed to normalizing the conversation around death and dying in our community.

Some of our most critical life decisions to be made affect outcomes after we die. One of those is naming an executor in our will. Almost as important as the will itself, choosing one’s executor can mean the difference between your final wishes being honoured and carried out as per your instruction, or being changed and completely disregarded.
