What to expect when making funeral arrangements?

October 16, 2019

This is what your Park Memorial funeral planner will cover in your arrangements meeting:

You can expect your appointment to last 2-3 hours or more. A selection of hot and cold beverages will be offered during our time together. During the funeral arrangements meeting, your funeral director will help you:

• Register your loved one's passing with Vital Statistics

• Select either burial or cremation

• Choose service dates

• Book a venue for the service and/or reception

• Contact a priest, minister, celebrant or other clergy to conduct a service

• Choose a casket or cremation container and urn

• Order Flowers (or you may wish to order flowers yourself)

• Finalize an obituary to appear on our website or in the newspaper

• Contact a cemetery if interment is taking place

• Design a custom memorial card to be handed out at the service, choose a guest book, and discuss other personalization options

• Families requiring financial assistance may qualify for Alberta Human Services Funeral Benefit

Should you require social assistance with this, you must notify the funeral director at the initial arrangements meeting. Application for social assistance at a later date will not be considered by human services.
