National Funeral Director Recognition Day

Compassionate care on your hardest of days.

The funeral profession isn’t entered into lightly. It is no secret that the role of funeral director is one that requires the highest of professionalism, compassion, organization, and care. Their service is not one that is largely sought after; in fact most of us would rather that we never had to seek the services of a funeral director. But on those hardest and saddest of days, they are the hub of the wheel of all of the questions, planning, paperwork, and choices that come with preparing to honour a life.

Families generally come through our doors in a state of shock, grief, sadness, and often feeling very overwhelmed. Our funeral director team comes alongside each family that we serve and with their soft questions, knowledgeable information, and clearly defined options, they help lift the fog of shock and overwhelm. They instill confidence and certainty as the family makes the necessary decisions to honour their loved one.

They have a special way of making our families feel like their needs and their loved one are the only ones that matter. What you may not know is that when your family is being served by one of our funeral directors, they are most often serving several other families at the same time. They work hard to ensure that your decisions, details, and desires in honouring the life of your loved one are clearly defined and communicated to our team so that your service is exactly as you planned and pictured.

Not all superheroes wear capes.

Today we recognize and thank our team of funeral directors and our entire staff team that supports the care of our families. If you have been cared for by a funeral director who made your worst of days just a little bit lighter, consider reaching out with a thank you…

August 30th was marked as National Grief Awareness Day, and while we missed the official calendar date, we reflect on this truth: grief doesn’t live on a calendar. It doesn’t circle one day in August or only come up during anniversaries and holidays.

My Dearest Daughter, as I write this letter, I can already feel the weight of my absence pressing upon you. There is so much I wish I could have told you, so many moments I wish I could have shared with you. But now, as you face the daunting task of being my Executor, I realize how much I have failed to prepare you for what lies ahead.

Being named the executor for a loved one is both an honour and a significant responsibility. As you step into this role, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed by the myriad of tasks and decisions that lie ahead. While the process can be complex and time-consuming, it is essential to approach it with warmth, empathy, and unwavering professionalism.
