Support for Families

Before, During, and After Loss

You may have heard about Park Memorial on the radio, where we’ve been sharing some of the ways we help families through loss and grief.

When someone we love dies, families often find themselves navigating grief, decisions, and responsibilities all at once.

1: Honouring Their Wishes — and Your Need to Say Goodbye

A meaningful farewell can respect your loved one’s wishes while also giving family and friends the opportunity to remember, reflect, and begin healing.

Sometimes families share the sentiment:

“My mom didn’t want a funeral.”

Honouring a loved one’s wishes is a meaningful act of love, and those wishes matter. At the same time, families often discover that they still need a moment to acknowledge the loss and say goodbye in their own way.

A meaningful farewell doesn’t have to be a traditional funeral. It might be a small gathering, a celebration of life, or a quiet moment shared with those closest to you.

At Park Memorial, we help families honour their loved one’s wishes while also creating space for remembrance, connection, and healing.

Because a meaningful goodbye is always possible.

2: Support for Executors and Families After a Loss

The responsibilities that follow a death can feel overwhelming. Our aftercare team helps guide families through important documents, notifications, and next steps.

Many people feel honoured when they are asked to serve as an executor. It is a role built on trust, responsibility, and respect for a loved one’s wishes.

What many people do not realize is how complex the role can become. In the months following a death, executors often face paperwork, government notifications, financial institutions, and many administrative tasks. Trying to manage these responsibilities while grieving can feel overwhelming.

At Park Memorial, our Aftercare team helps guide families through this process step by step. From understanding important documents to navigating estate responsibilities, we offer support long after the funeral service has taken place.

Because caring for families does not end when the service concludes — it continues through the many practical steps that follow.

3: Community Grief Support Programs

Grief does not end after the service. Our community programs create spaces where people can connect, share experiences, and find support together

Grief does not follow a schedule, and it rarely disappears after a funeral service.

For many people, the weeks and months after a loss can feel especially isolating. At Park Memorial, we believe that no one should have to navigate grief alone.

That is why we offer a variety of community grief support programs throughout the year, including small group gatherings, creative workshops, and men’s grief support groups. These events provide a safe, welcoming space where people can connect with others who understand the experience of loss.

Sometimes the most meaningful step in healing is simply knowing you are not alone.
