Condolence From: Bob Rennie
Condolence: To Prudence and all of Geoff's family. My sincere condolences on Geoff's passing. I was aware he had been ill but it was a great shock. Geoff was so stoic even the last time I saw him. Our paths crossed often in the hospital teaching to residents in microbiology and infectious diseases. Geoff often came to the lab. His interest in all aspects of the infectious disease process was more refreshing. He was a most careful and concerned clinician and her will be greatly missed in our corridors.

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of Geoff's passing. My condolences to Pru and your family. Over the thirty years that I worked with Geoff he provided sound leadership in a kind and supportive manner. He challenged each of us in our small Infection Control Unit to seek knowledge and strive for excellence. He will be greatly missed and remembered by many.

Condolence: Dear Prudence and family,
We were so shocked to hear of Geoff's passing. I worked with Geoff over almost three decades on national infection control committees, the Royal college and our infectious disease society. I was always delighted when I walked in a meeting and saw him there, and bee-lined over to sit by him if possible. He had such common sense, good humour, insight, humility, and quiet humour. My husband John LeBlanc and I also connected with him regarding Geoff's time in Fiji, where he volunteered to help the medical school during a time when they had insufficient faculty for the graduating class. Geoff was truly interested in the common good. I hope the knowledge of his contributions will provide some solace at this difficult time.
Warmest wishes
Joanne Langley and John LeBlanc

Condolence: Dear Prue,
Many years ago, Uncle Ed wrote in my autograph book the following quote.
"Isn't it strange how princes and kings
and clowns that caper in sawdust rings,
And common folk like you and me
Are builders for eternity?
Each is given a list of rules;
A shapeless mass; a bag of tools.
And each must fashion, ere life is flown
A stumbling-block or a Stepping-Stone."
R. Lee Sharpe
Geoff fashioned more than one Stepping-Stone. He has left a wonderful legacy as a physician, friend, husband and father. We are privileged to have had him in our family and in our lives. Love to you all.

Condolence: Geoff and I were often confused for each other because of similar last names, physical appearance and shared patients. I never complained about this as Geoff was an exemplar for what an academic physician/clinician should be and was a tremendous friend and colleague who could always be counted on. We worked together for decades caring for a wide variety of vulnerable patients and also helped manage the in-patient care of very complex patients in conjunction with a wide range of health care professionals. Geoff had a major impact in improving this care as he did in out-patient care in Edmonton as well as in Africa. I will miss his constant good humour as well as his excellent judgement.

Condolence: Sending my love and thoughts to the Taylor family during this difficult time. I only met Geoff a few times as a friend of Alex. But reading through all of these lovely messages and hearing about his life from Alex, he was undoubtedly an amazing man. Loss of a loved one is never easy, but it is clear to me that so much of Geoff will live on in his children and family. His dedication, compassion, intelligence and love of adventure are so evident in Alex and all his family ❤️

Condolence: Dear Taylor family,
I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Geoff's passing. Everybody who knows Geoff also knows the incredible work he did, the people he helped and the friendships he forged. So I will not go into the vast benefits and consequences of his many years of working in ID and IPC. Instead, I will just share with you the image of Geoff that I will forever keep in mind. After many years of interacting with him at meetings, conferences, workshops and just sitting around and talking together, I will always remember his calm demeanor regardless of the situation, his pensive reflections when asked his opinion, and...….of course..... his incredible laugh and smile which permeated every discussion.
I hope that the incredible memories and the long list of his accomplishments and the number of people whom he mentored and helped over the years will slightly soften this devastating loss and give you comfort in the difficult days and years ahead.

Condolence: Our hearts go out to Prudence, Duncan, Alex and family. We had the privilege of knowing Geoff as a colleague, as our daughter’s physician and as a dear friend. Always knowledgeable, professional, kind and caring; when Geoff spoke, in his quiet and understated way, we knew that we were getting the very best information and advice.
We will always remember the care Geoff provided to our daughter; going above and beyond to ensure that she received the medical attention she required.
Over the last several years we had the pleasure of shared dinners with Geoff and Prudence. We will miss the conversations, the raised eyebrows on occasion and Geoff’s appreciation of a good dessert.
A great man, a great loss.
Marshall, Joan and Bryn

Condolence: I'm so very sorry to hear that Geoff has passed too young. Geoff was among the most respected of all the physicians I know. His opinion could be counted on to be carefully considered, informed and selfless. I enjoyed his quiet demeanour and appreciation of humour with his brief chuckle. I'm so very sorry Pru and family for your tremendous loss.
