Obituary for Ruth Naismith (nee Paterson)

On Sunday, September 8, 2019, following a short battle with cancer, Ruth Naismith, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away peacefully at her home as she wished, after raising a final glass of red wine with a few of her family and friends who were there at her side.
Ruth was born in Calgary in 1939 and later moved to Edmonton where she met and married Don Naismith.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Margaret (Harvey) Buckley; and her brother, John Paterson, and their families; and her sister-in-law, Heather Baker.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Don, in 1992; her parents, Archie and Laura Paterson; and her brother-in-law, Harvey Buckley.
Ruth’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of her much-loved nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews, and her many long-time friends with whom she shared so many fun memories. They all will miss her sense of humour, her quick wit, her caring nature, and her many and varied musical talents.
At Ruth’s request no service will be held, but she asks that you raise a glass in her memory.
In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2 or a charity of your choice.
