Obituary for Peter Alexander Ponich

Peter Alexander Ponich of Edmonton passed away peacefully on February 20, 2018. With great sadness we say good-bye. Known for his caring personality, Peter was a retired hospital pharmacist and devoted to his family.
Peter was recently predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Vera (Chumer). Together they raised two children, Darcia (Dr. Gary) Hasey and Dr. Terry (Valerie Johnson) Ponich and enjoyed two grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Hasey. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Reverend D.M. Ponich and Magdalena Ponich; and brothers, George and Paul many years ago and brothers, Laddie and Andy in the past two years. He leaves several relatives, including nieces and nephews on both the Ponich and Chumer sides of the family.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Canterbury Court and Capital Care Lynnwood for all their kindness and care over the years. The family also wishes to thank Elena Pangan of Nurse Next Door for her dedication and devoted care.
Prayer Service Wednesday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue.
Funeral Service Thursday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Victoria Settlement.
