Obituary for Ernest Ray Anderson

Print
Affectionately known as Sonny by his close family and Ernie by his schoolmates, with his Elvis looks and pleasant smile, he grew up in small Alberta towns before going to work in the oilfield right out of high school.
Tough yet sensitive, kind and gentle, generous to a fault, trusting and loyal. In his prime age of 24, he was a victim of violent crime that caused brain damage, losing much of his memory. He continued to enjoy life, suffering with challenges that most did not recognize but he kept his head high through it all.
Spending time with family and friends, playing cards, going to bingo, or just out for a good time was all he ever asked.
In his last few years he fought a tough battle with cancer.
He is survived by his siblings, Grace, Marlene (Dean), Callum (Becky), and Kelly-Anne (Rob); nieces and nephews, Kelly, Kevin, Christine, Che, Holly, James, Melissa, Riley; as well as great-nieces and a great-nephew, and numerous cousins and close friends. Predeceased by his father, Mark; his partner, Liz; and his loving and caring mother, Florence.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Edmonton. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society and Brain Injury Canada at canadahelps.org.
