Enil "Nellie" Govenlock
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Enil "Nellie" Govenlock of Whitecourt, AB on August 4, 2017 at the age of 91 years at the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre.
Enil was born on November 7, 1925 in Poland to Ludovica and John Liwczak. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1931 where they homesteaded in the Greencourt area. Mom met Dad in 1945, married a year later and raised their family on the farm in Whitecourt. She enjoyed a bit of traveling, LOVED bingo, was an active member of Whitecourt Seniors’ Club, and playing (and winning) cribbage was a major part of her life. Mom was a great cook, a devoted wife, mother and amazing grandmother
Enil will be greatly missed by her children, John (Kathy), Tom (Doreen), Jim (Mary), Mary (David) Russell, Ron (Pam), Robert (Joanne), Margaret Wilson, Gerald (Alice) and Lillian (Randy) Prost; 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Ann Chayka; brothers, John, Walter, Victor and Joe Liwczak, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Enil was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Govenlock (1983); their infant son, Peter (1953); two grandsons, Thomas John and Michael James Govenlock; three brothers, Stan, Bill and Mike; and one sister, Stephie Fifield.
Heartfelt gratitude by the family for the loving care and attention Mom received while at the Spruceview Lodge and the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the Whitecourt United Church, 5201 – 50 Street, Whitecourt, AB with Pastor Deborah Springer officiating.
