On May 27, 2014, Mrs. Olha Ilkiw of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years.
Born in Delatyn, Ukraine, Olha is survived by her children, Roxolana (Arkadij) Chumak of Calgary, Roma (Alexander) Stadnyk of Houston, Texas and Orest Bohdan (Colleen) Ilkiw of Edmonton; eight grandchildren, Tanya, Christina, Markian, Alexander, Andrew, Natalie, Kristofor and David. Predeceased by her husband, Dmytro in 1974; three brothers, Ilia, Vasyl and Yurko, and one sister, Marynia.
Olha’s greatest joy was her family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Her compassion and generosity was seen by all those who knew her. Olha’s strength and determination were an inspiration for us all. She will be deeply missed.
Prayers will take place Monday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 – 97 Street.
The Divine Liturgy will be held Tuesday, June 3 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ukrainian Catholic Education Foundation to provide a scholarship for a student in need, at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. Donations may be mailed to UCEF at 263 Bering Avenue, Toronto, ON M8Z 3A5.
